*Ray Lewis was a super star this past Sunday, leading his team to victory over the San Francisco 49ers. His performance was anticipated and he certainly lived up to the hype.
Amidst controversy and a whole lot of chatter, he kept his poise throughout the days leading up to the Super Bowl. And he rocked it, stopping his opponent on three plays five yards from the in zone. Getting that trophy was the goal for the night.
“How could it end any other way than that?” Lewis said. “And now I get to ride into the sunset with my second ring.”
Before getting his brow wet with sweat and his cleats scuffed on the field, he delivered a motivational speech to his team, beginning the night with focus and ending his career with a bang.
As he clutched the moment of victory, glaring up at the streams of confetti, one couldn’t help but celebrate with and for the 13-time Pro Bowler.
“It’s simple: When God is for you, who can be against you?” Lewis said, clutching the Lombardi Trophy. “It’s no greater way, as a champ, to go out on your last ride with the men that I went out with, with my teammates. And you looked around this stadium and … Baltimore! Baltimore! We coming home, baby! We did it!”
The Ravens beat the 49ers Sunday with a close 34-31.
