Dr. Hurst is the Director of Clinical Research for the California Oncology Research Institute (CORI). Continually honored as one of America’s Best Surgeons since 2003, Dr. Hurst specializes in breast, colorectal, melanoma, and sarcoma cancers as well as general surgery. A leader in his field, his research has focused on tumor immunology; specifically analyzing TCRV usage in response to tumor vaccines for melanoma using the method of cPCR (competitive PCR) to quantitate the frequency of TCR subfamilies in PBMC. In addition to his extensive work in CORI, Dr. Hurst is also partnered with the United States Military Cancer Institute, in an effort to bring cutting edge research and surgical treatment to the inner city. Through these partnerships, he strives to give people of color the opportunity to access state of the art cancer care without leaving their community.
