When they meet and fall in love with two young American girls, who are vacationing in France, they must decide whether they should move back to America with them, or stay in Paris for the freedom it allows them. Ram, who wants to be a serious composer, finds Paris more exciting than America and is reluctant to give up his music for a relationship, and Eddie wants to stay for the city’s more tolerant racial atmosphere.

CELEBRATION OF MEN “THE PROUD VALLEY”

Ebony Repertory Theatre | Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM (PST) | Los Angeles, CA

Black History Month EventA Free Event: Screening of “The Proud Valley” Starring: Paul Robeson
Paul Robeson developed a long-standing affinity with the people of Wales, which lasted throughout his lifetime, and “The Proud Valley” was the one film he made of which he was truly proud. Whether singing ‘Deep River’ with the choir, or working underground with his comrades from the village, he fits in just fine. ‘The Proud Valley is a fine testament both to British film-making and the huge community spirit of the Valleys. David Goliath (Paul Robeson) is a convincing working-class person, kind, generous and good-natured. It was extremely rare for a black character to be presented in this way in the 1930s and 1940s.
