SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

MISSION
KJLH 102.3 is not just a radio station. It is an institution in the Black Los Angeles community — built on trust, cultural authority, and a direct relationship with an audience that has been listening for decades. This role exists to extend that relationship into the digital space.

The Social Media Coordinator must understand the KJLH brand before anything else. Knowing how to post
is a baseline. What we need is someone who understands what KJLH stands for, how our audience thinks, and what it means to represent this station every time we appear on a screen. That understanding drives everything: the content we create, the way we respond to our audience, the way we support our on-air personalities, and the consistency of how we look and sound across every platform we occupy.

This is not a one-way broadcasting job. It is active community stewardship — creating content, following up with our audience, collaborating directly with on-air talent to amplify what happens on the radio, and making sure KJLH is on-brand and recognizable no matter which platform someone finds us on.

ACTIVE PLATFORMS
• Instagram
• TikTok
• Facebook
• X / Twitter
• Threads
• YouTube
• Hootsuite Hub
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Calendar. Develop and execute a consistent content calendar across all five platforms using
Hootsuite.
Platform-Native Content. Create Reels, TikToks, carousels, Stories, and copy rooted in Black LA culture built for each platform, not repurposed across them.
Live Coverage. Capture and post in real time during station events, remotes, and on-air moments.
Audience Follow-Up. Monitor comments and DMs, respond with the brand voice, and maintain active
two-way engagement. This audience deserves follow-through — not just broadcast.

On-Air Talent Collaboration. Work directly with on-air personalities to cross-promote segments, amplify
their digital presence, and ensure the on-air and digital experience feel connected.

Brand Consistency. Maintain a consistent look, tone, and voice across all platforms. Every post, every reply, every story should be unmistakably KJLH.
Weekly Analytics. Track performance and report insights directly to the Director of Programming.

Cultural Awareness. Stay current on trending audio, formats, and cultural moments relevant to our
audience — before they peak, not after.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Deep knowledge of Black culture, LA culture, and the rhythms of urban radio
• Proficient in Hootsuite or comparable social media management platforms
• Strong short-form video instincts — you know what works on TikTok vs. Instagram vs. Threads
• Excellent written voice with the ability to match and maintain brand tone across platforms
• Basic photo and video editing skills (CapCut, Canva, Adobe, or equivalent)
• Available to work evenings and weekends as station programming demands
• 1–2 years of social media management experience preferred; portfolio or active account presence
required
• Radio, music, or entertainment industry experience is a plus
REPORTING & EXPECTATIONS
This role reports directly to the Director of Programming. You will be expected to operate with a high level of
independence, strong creative judgment, and a genuine connection to the community KJLH serves. Generic
content has no home here.
